The Great Rainbow Sock Famine...

They Go Nuts For Those Rainbows...

It's probably the hugely bright colours that make me smile, even though I've seen so many of them, sewing them all the time. Rainbow Monkeys are definitely my most popular product, so much so that I don't even have time to branch out into other rainbow animals before the next one gets snapped up and I need to make a replacement... But, really, I mean, they are pretty awesome:

At my last craft fair, I had a total Rainbow Monkey blitz: they all went. It was mad.

Because of this I have one, one only, one single pair of rainbow socks left with which to make a sock thingy and I can't be certain when I'll get my hands on some more.

To get around to what I'm trying to say: if you have a hankering to own a rainbow sock ANYTHING (not just a monkey, though that is still on the table), get in touch!

New Business Cards!

...and they're a long time coming!

Yes, it may be a fairly thin reason for a blog post, however, they are indeed much needed.

If you've picked up a business card from me previously, or received one with a postal order, then you'll know that I - really rather stupidly - ordered business cards before I set up any sort of internet presence. (I know, I should have planned ahead but I didn't...)

Anyway, these brand spanking shiny new ones not only include my email address (in.stitches.by.ellie@gmail.com for anyone who's wondering) but list all of my websites AND my mobile number for anyone wanting just to ask any general questions very very fast.

So, anyway, yes, these cards are very lovely so if is interested in taking a bunch for handing out to anyone (or just to use as teeny tiny coasters), get in touch!

Bubble-Wrap!

Putting My Fine Art Degree Into Practise...

One of the pieces I constructed at the end of my degree was a full-scale bathroom, complete with fixtures, from bubble-wrap. I haven't thought about this material for some time, but in considering expanding my stock I remembered how FUN it was to send bubble-wrap through a sewing machine (properly basted, of course).

So, here's the result:

£4.50

It's lovingly hansewn, and is really rather resilient for bubble-wrap. Specifics aside, I think it's fun, yet oddly glam at the same time.

Watch this space for other bubble-wrap products...

In Stitches Revival!

So, I haven't posted in a while...

I'm very sorry about that, I was indulging in a bit of a sit-down after my busy Christmas period. But Christmas is long over now and it's time - not to spring - but to head-dive back into action.

What HAVE I been doing? Well, here's what's new for In Stitches in 2011:

  • My folksy.com shop is well up and running. Have a cheeky peek! It's easier to buy from me direct there, as the Folksy Folk are always on the ball. It makes the process a lot easier. Here's the address:
  • I've been dabbling in cross-stitching! And it's quite fun. I fancy myself as a film and TV addict, and I'm trying to appeal to people like me. Have a look on folksy.com for my new Back to the Future inspired wall art!
  • My last craft fair in the North West (for now...) is coming up on the 5th of March at Neston Town Hall. Come say goodbye/hello!
  • I'll be relocating to Glasgow in the summer to continue my artistic education, but I'll not leave the monkeys by the wayside: In Stitches will be continuing regardless of any such masters degree I attempt to pursue...
There it is: in short, thank you to everyone in 2010 who gave their (rather unconditional!) support to In Stitches so I got it off the ground. Now it's in the air, 2011 holds more exciting prospects and products so watch this space!

Richmond Village Christmas Fair

Mince Pies and Mulled Wine...

The Christmas Fair at Richmond Village, Nantwich today was wonderful. The snow on the ground made it feel like Christmas already, as well as the carol singing and abundance of mulled wine and mince pies: a relaxing, cosy, comfortable atmosphere.

P.S. I'm aware that a lot of the photos of the sock animals have (SOLD) written beneath them. I intend to put some more photos of new, available stock up as soon as I can! In the meantime, I am continuing to make new sock plushies but I can custom make you something to your tastes as well!

Thornton Hough Craft Fayre

There was a wonderful atmosphere at the Thornton Hough Christmas Fayre - courtesy of Fair Angels - today. The morning started quietly, but it gave me the opportunity to chat to fellow-stallholders (something I didn't get the chance to do at Hoole). After lunch, however, visitors flooded in for some Sunday afternoon Christmas shopping and I very nearly sold out of horses and cats!

The feedback was wonderful from visitors and crafters, making the day very enjoyable indeed. See my events page for my next appearance.

Commissions and Custom Projects Begin...

A Horse With Stars On...
I received my very first special request last week: after viewing my facebook page, a customer placed an order for a starry horse. Clearly, the only horses pictured are perfectly plain, but my customer liked the shape of them and wanted something tailored to their specific tastes. This was my first custom order, so I was able to test myself, and the system works perfectly! I also found it's extra satisfying to make something specifically for someone.

So... feel free to contact me if there's something special you want (at no extra cost!). Maybe a particular colour of stripes or stars or... whatever! See the resulting starry horse on my commissions page (coming soon).
